Guaranteeing local ownership of biogas production units is a priority throughout France. As a result, new partnerships and preventive actions are emerging, such as in New Aquitaine where GRTgaz and the regional association Valeurs Agri Métha (VAM) (90 member farmers-methanizers) have formalized a partnership agreement to this effect.

Through meetings, dedicated workshops and a toolbox, project leaders now have easy access to all the information in the sector and the main current topics.

To succeed, the VAM association relies on a team of facilitators and experts, an essential pivot to strengthen the ownership of all local stakeholders, and on GRTgaz. Further north, in Normandy, the Métha’Normandie charter, which came into force in December 2022, had already been signed by five project leaders at the end of May. Aiming to encourage and promote territorial dialogue upstream of methanization projects, it has even become one of the conditions for obtaining regional funding or from Ademe - Ecological Transition Agency. A charter application kit, containing turnkey information and methodology, will soon be given to committed project leaders.
