2021 Gas and Renewable Gas Review

GRTgaz presented its 2021 review covering gas consumption, flows and prices at a press conference held on 3 February. The development of the renewable gas and hydrogen sectors was also addressed, with emphasis on their accelerated growth on several levels.

Key points included:

• French gas consumption up by 6% compared to 2020 due to colder weather conditions;
• energy prices at record levels in unprecedented circumstances;
• a well-functioning market with increased bidirectional exchanges at interconnection points;
• renewable gases and hydrogen: confirmation of the potential to replace natural gas and the emergence of a hydrogen market.
