BarMar-H2med

The first large green hydrogen corridor in Europe
Carte BarMar-H2Med : premier grand corridor d’hydrogène vert en Europe

Description of project

The BarMar project connecting Barcelona and Marseille is a key link in the H2med project. H2Med will be a vast hydrogen transport corridor capable of carrying 10% of the 20 million tonnes of hydrogen foreseen in the RePowerEU targets in Europe by 2030. It is one of the main hydrogen import corridors via the Mediterranean, connecting Portugal, Spain and France and eventually North Africa in order to transport renewable hydrogen to the consumer countries of central Europe.

Hydrogen uses

The use will mainly be industrial, and will enable the decarbonisation of the main industrial companies along its route in Portugal, Spain, France and towards Germany. Consequently, the project will be a key factor in the development of a renewable and low-carbon hydrogen market at the European level. Hydrogen mobility will benefit from the scale effects connected with the industrial ecosystem.
