Diversity is a source of creativity and innovation for the company, and a powerful value for attracting new talent. Meeting with Thierry Escaffre, Diversity Manager in the GRTgaz HR department.

Why is diversity a challenge for company such as GRTgaz?

Diversity, career development and listening to employees are key strategic areas for GRTgaz’s social policy. In 2021, the time has come to remove the obstacles too often encountered by certain individuals for reasons of diversity or “difference”.
We are taking action to change mindsets and convince key contributors about diversity, both in terms of employee well-being and performance.

What goals and methods does GRTgaz implement to promote diversity?

Eighty-seven percent of our employees believe that the company promotes diversity. Fostering an inclusive, non-discriminatory work environment received the same score (see: GRTgaz Diversity survey, March 2021). GRTgaz’s goal is preserve this openness and translate it into tangible actions and results.

Several themes such as gender equality are key in this regard. In 2020, for the second year running, GRTgaz received a professional equality index score of 94/100. This commitment continues via a related agreement signed with our social partners. Equal opportunities for all (disability) is also a major concern, and GRTgaz allocates considerable resources in this area.

How did the partnership with the association Autre Cercle come about?

GRTgaz signed this charter in 2018 as a responsible employer concerned with guaranteeing an inclusive work environment for LGBT+ employees. In 2020, we created a LGBT+ & allié.e.s collective, and on 17 May 2021 we held a round table bringing together members of our collective and role models from Autre Cercle. This event marked the opening of our Diversity Month.
