Régions de France and GRTgaz have been partners since 2016. On 7 January, they signed a new three-year partnership agreement in which they commit to working together in the following areas:

  • gas and the gas industry supporting regional policies relating to energy, the environment, mobility, economic development, innovation, research and development, sectors... and the capitalisation of experiences in these various fields;
  • the development of renewable gas: waste recovery in the form of renewable gas (methanisation, pyro-gasification, hydrothermal gasification, etc.), the role of gas infrastructures in the development of hydrogen projects;
  • gas markets data and developments for the establishment, implementation and assessment of regional plans, in particular STRADDET (Regional Plans for Land Planning, Sustainable Development, and Territorial Equality), SRCAE (Regional Plans for Climate, Air and Energy), as well as PRPGD (Regional Plans for Waste Prevention and Management), regional biomass plans, and SRDEII (Regional Plans for Economic Development, Innovation and Internationalisation), in particular in regard to support for industry and innovation;
  • sustainable mobility and developing NGV-bioNGV refuelling infrastructures;
  • biodiversity preservation policies (green belts, regional ecological coherence plans, regional biodiversity agencies, regional nature parks, etc.);
  • learning, professional training and employment support: the Regions’ competencies make them central to aligning employment needs/offers;
  • awareness-raising of elected regional officials to improve territorial dialogue with GRTgaz, in particular through the proper identification of territorial delegates.

To this end, working groups and hearings can be set up to address the following issues, as required:

  • sustainable mobility, the interconnection and capacity of alternative fuel stations (NGV and bioNGV);
  • waste;
  • renewable gases and the links between the SRADDET, SRCAE and PRPGD regional plans;
  • biodiversity.

GRTgaz’s support, co-management and involvement in one or more of Régions de France’s specific actions (publications, seminars, studies, etc.) are also envisaged as part of this partnership.
