31/01/2014

Press release published on PRISMA website

GRTgaz and connected German TSOs Open Grid Europe and GRTgaz Deutschland to publish bundled yearly capacity at Medelsheim / Obergailbach.

On 3 February 2014, the French TSO GRTgaz, and its connected German TSOs Open Grid Europe and GRTgaz Deutschland will publish bundled yearly capacities at the interconnection point Medelsheim / Obergailbach on the PRISMA platform for the first time. The bundled yearly capacity will be auctioned at PRISMA on 3 March 2014.

The three TSOs have been offering bundled capacity at the cross-border point Medelsheim / Obergailbach on daily and monthly basis since June 2013. With the upcoming bundled yearly auctions OGE, GRTgaz Deutschland and GRTgaz are completing the early implementation of the future European market rules of the CAM Network code. The alignment of cross-border capacity products between Germany and France will support the connection of the European gas markets.

The bundled products at Medelsheim / Obergailbach connect the German VTP of NetConnect Germany (NCG) to the French GRTgaz North.

About PRISMA:

PRISMA was founded by major European TSOs, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands with the aim to create a joint European capacity platform.

The new European Platform PRISMA, which was launched in April 2013, is the first platform to have implemented ENTSOG’s Network Code on Capacity Allocation Mechanisms, the future market rules for allocating transport capacity.

There are currently 28 European TSOs from Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Spain connected to the platform and market transport capacity via PRISMA.

With its harmonised capacity products and auction mechanisms and its ability to serve a high number of TSO backend systems in accordance with the future European regulation of the CAM Network Code, PRISMA primary is a major step towards an integrated European gas market.
