New peak in consumption on the GRTgaz network

GRTgaz recorded a new daily consumption peak of 3363 GWh on 8 February 2012. Last week, consumption already exceeded the historical peak of 8 January 2010 (3037 GWh), with 3232 GWh on 2 and 3 February 2012.

These successive peaks in consumption can be explained by the cold snap that France is experiencing. This has, notably, meant that the 11 gas-fired power plants, commissioned in France between 2009 and 2011, have been running at full capacity.

Thanks to the responsiveness of its teams, GRTgaz is ensuring optimal supply of the gas that it receives from suppliers in the French market, upon entry into the country, from underground storage sites, or from LNG terminals.

The investment that has been made to expand and maintain the LNG transmission network allows the optimal operation of installations to be guaranteed, including during very cold spells.
