The Federation of French regional natural parks and GRTgaz renew their partnership

On 9 November 2016, Thierry Trouvé, GRTgaz Managing Director, and Michaël Weber, Chairman of the Federation of French regional natural parks, singed a new agreement to continue the dynamic collaboration between GRTgaz and French regional natural parks until 2019.

The two parties now wish to develop new local partnerships against a backdrop marked by defining the Trames Vertes et Bleues [French environmental initiative to protect designated natural areas and biodiversity], adopting a new French law on Biodiversity and Landscapes or implementing public policies linked to energy and ecological transitions. New opportunities for collaboration will be sought on the development of mobility gas and biomethane within the parks. A first project is under consideration, to install a Vehicle Natural Gas (fuel gas) fuel station to provide fuel for vehicles of the Brière Natural Park.

Since the first agreement was signed in 2010, various actions have been undertaken with the major parks crossed by gas pipelines, namely the Avesnois, Ballons des Vosges, Brenne, Brière, Lorraine, Luberon, Vexin and Vosges du Nord Parks. Within these 8 parks, GRTgaz has contributed to the development of biodiversity on the grassy strips covering the gas pipelines, restoring natural environments or raising public awareness of the environment. A special edition of the rambling magazine Passion Rando, devoted to these 8 French regional natural parks, presents the main actions carried out with GRTgaz in recent years.
