How the gas transport network works during winter

In keeping with its public service obligations, GRTgaz ensures the continuous delivery of natural gas, including during periods of extreme cold. To do so, the gas system as a whole pulls from diversified supply sources.

Three supply sources: Gas pipeline, LNG, underground storage

The combination of these three supply sources ensures the gas system functions properly. Storage is especially important in order to supply consumers during the winter.

Every year, GRTgaz publishes a Winter Outlook. This document examines the effects of various stress factors on the GRTgaz network and presents a series of recommendations to its shipper clients.
