Network and pipeline protection

A new online service for construction without destruction:
As part of the action plan to prevent damage to our networks, the online service www.reseaux-et-canalisations.gouv.fr has been put in place to prevent accidents and incidents from occurring during works carried out near overground, underground or underwater networks.
Every year, over 100,000 cases of damage are caused during works carried out near our 4 million kilometres of overground or underground networks in France.
- These incidents lead to downtime on work sites, interruptions to public services and disruptions to road traffic. In order to significantly reduce damage caused to our networks, the relevant regulation has been extensively revised.
- Now codified in the environment code, articles L. 554-1 to L. 554-5 and R. 554-1 to R. 554-38, it not only concerns network operators but also contracting agents, who are obliged to increase the safety of their projects when working in proximity to our networks, and work agents, who must make their work sites safer. It is into effect since 1st July 2012.
- Practically, this means that. Since 1st July 2012, anyone planning on carrying out works is obliged to visit the new online service www.reseaux-et-canalisations.gouv.fr to obtain the list of network operators to whom they will have to send the new regulatory declarations, the Declaration of Proposed Works (DT) and the Declaration of Intent to Carry out Works (DICT).
This single service point replaces the list of networks and their operators that was managed before 1st July 2012 by the local authority.
